How is this sola scriptura? I think "smoking crack" would be a better description. In fact, these people are interpreting scripture, quite a bit, trying to update polygamy for the 21st century. If they were really into sola scriptura, that would never fly.
I disagree. It is precisely their lack of submission to a valid magisterium that give rise to their crazy interpretations of scripture. I don't think you can refute them by Sola Scriptura.
If you're really into Sola Scriptura, it's just you, "God" and your bible, and whatever feels true is at least as plausible as the next guy's opinion. And it's okay to omit parts of the bible that don't fit your interpretation. In fact, selective omission of scripture is the only way Sola Scriptura is thinkable.
