Hours of Fun.

So I was a little bored, and surfing, and I found this site. From the comfort of your own computer you can remotely CONTROL over 20,000 lights + inflate (or deflate) giant Elmo, Frosty, Santa, and Homer Simpson lawn ornaments. And you can watch it live on three web cams. Quite interesting. (The rationale of the site is to raise money for Celiac Disease Research)

An interesting take on Borat from a suprising source.
"I know that at a time when we all feel really threatened by Muslims, it's kind of funny to have this goofball Muslim character with his big Hussein mustache making stupid mistakes and expressing all these backward opinions about women and Jews, and washing his face in toilet bowls and so forth. Kinda makes everyone less scared if you can reduce the person you're afraid of to a kind of joke. Hasn't anyone else figured out yet that this is what Borat is all about? Hey, it's been done before. The Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin, even the Three Stooges. It was funny then, and maybe even necessary, but this time around it just makes me feel sad."

Libritarian Traffic rules

Libritarianism in a way that dosen't seem intutitive: Hans Monderman, a traffic planner involved in a Brussels-backed project known as Shared Space, said that taking lights away helped motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to co-exist more happily and safely. The idea is that people pay more attention when not relying on lights to direct them.

"It works well because it is dangerous, which is exactly what we want. But it shifts the emphasis away from the Government taking the risk, to the driver being responsible for his or her own risk."

Goodbye Donald

Rumsfeld quits after Democrats ride Iraq to win | Top News | Reuters.com

If only I could find a reason to suspect that this meant there would be significant positive change, then the satisfaction of seeing Rumsfeld resigning wouldn't be the shallow pleasure of an easily dislikable man's departure, but a real sign of something good. The Democrats have won, sort of, and Rumsfeld is out, but nothing changes. There will still be an unwinnable war to fight.

So how about the Bears?

The LSI Guide To Lockpicking

"Locksport International is proud to provide a simple, visual guide to lock picking. It is our hope that beginners will find this useful in learning the basic skills of picking pin tumbler locks."

Perhaps we should start a DC chapter. Or maybe there already is one...
